MV Equalizer

Real Time Dynamic Compensation at Medium Voltage

Elspec MV Equalizer is a high-performance solution for stabilizing dynamic medium voltage networks. Designed for environments with rapid and extreme fluctuations in reactive power, it delivers real-time compensation for reactive power, harmonics, voltage drops, and flicker—all in less than one cycle.

Using advanced thyristor switching technology with zero-crossing connection, the system ensures smooth, transient-free operation. Equipped with patented PQZIP™ technology and multiple Digital Fault Recorders (DFRs), the MV Equalizer offers precise control, continuous waveform recording, and built-in I²t protection.

Its unmatched speed and efficiency make it one of the most effective and reliable solutions for grid stability and power quality on the market today.

Description

Elspec Medium Voltage Equalizer is a fast-response power quality system designed for dynamic loads with rapidly changing reactive power demand. It delivers real-time compensation—within less than one cycle—for reactive power, harmonics, voltage drops, and flicker, helping to maintain grid stability and power reliability.

At its core is a high-power thyristor switching system that connects capacitors at zero-crossing, ensuring smooth, transient-free operation. Installing the Equalizer at one or multiple points across the network significantly improves voltage stability and reduces the risk of equipment downtime caused by power fluctuations.

With exceptional efficiency and low energy losses, the MV Equalizer stands out as one of the most effective compensation solutions on the market. Each system is tailor-made to meet the specific requirements of the customer, with configurations available up to 115 MVAr for both indoor and outdoor installations.

Typical applications:
– Water Utility’s (water pumps)
– Unbalanced Rapid Loads
– Arc Furnaces
– Wind Farms
– Wood Chippers
– Welding Operations
– Car Crushers & Shredders
– Industrial Mills
– Mining Mills, Shovels and Hoists
– Harbor Cranes
