Advanced Phasor Measurement for High-Performance Power Systems

G5 – Fasor Measuring Unit

BlackBox G5PMU is a full-featured phasor measurement unit (PMU) built in with PQZIP technology. The G5DFR is a distributed, multifunctional data acquisition unit that continuously records all waveform signals at a sampling rate of 1,024 samples per cycle.

Certificate

Superior transmission rate

With a transmission rate of up to 200/240 frames per second (50/60Hz), the G5PMU exceeds the C37.118 synchrophasor requirements for classes M and P.

Accuracy

Class P and M simultaneously

The G5PMU can transmit P and M classes simultaneously at two different transmission rates to two different destinations.

TimeSync

Synchronized Monitoring

The BLACKBox DFR synchronization algorithm is based on multiple sources with an automatic hierarchy for the availability of the preferred source (accuracy-based hierarchy). This unique time synchronization algorithm ensures that recorded data from multiple units is synchronized and displayed on the same timescale with a typical resolution of 1 μs.

Fasor PMU Measurement Unit

Complies with the most up-to-date standard for synchrophasor measurements of IEEE C37.118- 2011 power systems, including IEEE amendment C37.118.1a-2014.

Two independent synchrophasor data streams allow synchrophasor data to be reported with two different reporting rates and/or different performance classes (P/M) and/or data type simultaneously.

Ultra-fast report rate for p and m classes:

Performance ClassMaximum report rate for 50HzMaximum report rate for 60Hz
P200/sec240/sec
M100/sec120/sec

Support for simultaneous transmission of synchrophasor data over TCP/IP and UDP/IP. It can be configured for unicast or multicast, allowing for better design of WAMS communication and is suitable for WAMS with multiple utilities or applications involved.

Resolution of Supreme Trends

The G5PMU measures and records 5,000 power parameters continuously at a resolution of 1/2 cycles, 10/12 cycles, 150/180 cycles, 10 minutes and 2 hours. These parameters can be added to the PMU streaming package for subsequent reporting purposes.

Continuous Waveform Recordings

The G5PMU is a multifunctional recorder capable of recording and storing everything electrical. Waveform continuously At 1,024 samples/cycle, for more than a year, with no gaps in the data. Continuous waveform recording extends synchrophasor data to non-fundamental by evaluating the actual and image component of all harmonics up to 511°.
